Enjoy Lyon on a Vélo’v bike

Lyon has the perfect size to just hop on a bike and cross the city centre in 15 minutes. Not to mention de 300km bike laines. While many bikes get stolen unfortunately, since 2005 you can choose to ride one of the Vélo’v bikes that the city offers. If you try to avoid the crowded public transportation or rather exercise a bit, the Vélo’v bikes are available all year long.

Create an account in seconds for free and download their app to enjoy easy access. You can buy your tickets or subscriptions online, on the app or at a Vélo’v station kiosk equipped with a bank card terminal.

Play it smart and enjoy the bike for free. I tell you how.

Get every 30 minutes (sometimes 45 minutes) for free. Just simply attach your bike back to one of the 348 stations after less than 30 minutes of riding, wait for the “beep-beep” sound and then take the same bike out again to continue your trip. This way the time of your journey restarts and you can continue to use it without any additional costs for another 30 minutes. You can repeat this trick as many times as you want (except if you have purchased a single ride ticket).

30 or 45 minutes for free?

Everybody gets 30 minutes without any additional costs (beside the subscription), but some can push it to 45 minutes. How? You need to have a yearly subscription for Vélo’v and either have one of these cards: Técély/ Oura/ Bluely/ Trabool? or be a beneficiary of the Vélo’v benefits for the LPA/CITIZ/QPARK/VINCI/EFFIA parking.

You’ve got different options, which one is the best for you?

How about an electric bike to give you a push to climb up to Croix-Rousse?

Wouldn’t it be nice? Comfortable, at least. For 7€/month additional charge on top of your subscription you get a portable battery. It can be simply attached to a Vélo’v bike and turn it into an electric bike (only possible with the hybrid Vélo’v bikes that have a battery holder in front, at the basket.) More info about the Vélo’v electric bikes here.

Always ride carefully and respect pedestrians, who always have the priority. Be aware of blind spots, especially with buses that cannot see you. Stay alert for unintentional opening of doors and lane changes by other vehicles. But most importantly enjoy the ride! For registration and more information visit the official website of Vélo'v.
